Holy Crap it’s been a loooogn time since I posted. Things have been real busy around home. Spend about half of February on the road. One weekend in articular was my RMAX CST re-certification seminar which I passed!! It was defiantly a long weekend but the time just flew by. We started on at 0900 hours each day and ended up at 1800hrs Friday and Saturday and 1600 hours on Sunday.
Friday started out with a serious yoga class and things got kick off from there. We did a Range of Motion exam on each other mostly to see where individuals were binding in their movement. Then we started on a new program that Coach Scott Sonnon developed with his Cadre that is pretty much distilled Circular Strength Training. Each program includes a specific warm up for the group of muscles your about to uses then the Work and finally the Compensatory movements for those actions to release tension in those areas. Great Stuff. These programs really do the job.
Saturday was the Flow-Fit Exam. We had to do 14 rounds in 14 minutes. Here is an example of 1 round thanks to John Sifferman for posting this! :
There was a TON of nervous energy in the room s my good buddy Joel Seymore commented on. It defiantly helped the room. I managed to meet the requirements but my form suffered as the clock was ticking down so I know I have work to do there. The rest of the day was studying and performing he rest of the Mart ix Programs the RMAX developed. We did three more that day.
Sunday was the big Trial by Fire: 100 Swipes , 100 Mills Left and 100 Right Hand and 100 Hammer Swings 50 Left and 50 Right all done with the 15lb Clubbell and under 30 minutes. I knocked 4 minutes off my score to score 15:52.
After that, we finished off the last program and then went into client evaluation. Helping clients to try and regain mobility in areas that afflict them. Plus, we had to design 3 programs for three different activities. Designed to help strengthen and compensate for the jobs or hobbies that people do.
To top off the day, that evening I attended a Kettle-bell lifting Seminar held by Coach Sonnon. I picked up some nice pointers there as well. See, I started with the kettle-bells back in 2003 but the Clubbells seemed to fit my fitness and martial art goals to a “T”.
Monday was a lonnng trip home. It was weird how both I was physically tired but bursting with energy at the same time. Sleep was hard to achieve I guess because of all the ideas and plans running through my head.
Anyway, it was a great time. I have plans set up for the next year starting out with beginning training of the Western Martial Art/Longsword class I’ve been attending. I told them they are going to be the guinea pigs for me so I can get the teaching methods and timing down before I go public.
God help them!
