Still Recovering!

I realized this morning that sleeping on the bad shoulder doesn’t help things, it was rather sore.
Today’s recovery was Intu-Flow and some kata work.  THe Kata work was a bit much. Said shoulder fatigued a good bit really quck and started to let me know it wasn’t happy!
Just because an injury doesn’t hurt, doesn’t mean it’s [...]

Updates

It turns out I have a shoulder impingment. At least its not a rotator cuff.
http://orthoinfo.aaos.org/topic.cfm?topic=A00032
The Doctor gave em a cortisone shot which reduces the inflamation  but for now, rest, medication and stretching/yoga were pretty much the prescribed treatments.
The massage treatment I had yesterday helped tremendously. Last night was hardly any pain and this morning things [...]

Today’s training and stuff

Very ,very lite. Heart rate barely got into the training zone.
I had an excellant Intu-Flow Session trying to really focus on the movements and keep them slow and listening to the body.  When the Discomfort/pain got above a 5 I would hold where I was at and exhale slowly trying to bleed off tension.  It [...]

Back from the Tourney!

Sore, bruised and tired is how I feel. Fighting was excellant. I got to show off the Clubbells to a few other SCA’ers and had a good many converts!
The shoulder hurt like hell still. Got another visit to the massage therapist hopefully this week.  A combination of muscle tension and blunt force trauma makes this  [...]

Down Time

Wi a big event coming up this week, I’m traveling from the Deep South to WAY above the Mason Dixon line to the Mid-Realm to fight in one of their huge tournaments at Candlemas.  SO I’m resting the shoulder.
Last weekend, I fought mostly Polearm but swithced to sword and shield halfway through the tournament which [...]

Karate

Yesterday was a complete No Intensity Day until I went to Karate Class last night. Like I’ve said before, over the past month, our Sensei has taken over the training of the brown belts to get them conditioned for their black belt test and also taken over my training to get me ready for my [...]

Recovery Day

I guess this would be what you could call a NO- INTENSITY Day.
I’m  little stiff from yesterday. I’m also tired.
For some reason, I thought yoga was supposed to relax you. I always seem to be a littel stiff after a good yoga session. I guess I’m always pushing the edge.  Although, yesterday during the last portion  which [...]

Training Day – Tango

As many circuits as you can do in 25 Minutes.
Circuits consisted of:
Long Clean and Jerk with 35# Kettle-Bell – 7 reps per side
Double Clubbell Clean to Order with Lunge – 5 lunges per side
Gymnastic Ring Pulls 5 reps.
8 circuits total.
One goal was to keep the heart rate within it’s training Zone.  VERY difficult to do. [...]

Training Day

Well the shoulder is feeling better this week so I’m getting back into the Clubbell game.  Slowly.  Same training Protocals but a differnt exercises right now.
Good warmup with Intu-FLow. Still some clunkyness in the shoulders but discomfort is down.
Today was 10 ounds, 20 seconds work 10 sec rest.  Rest one minute if needed. (turns out, [...]

Shoulder Update

Doing Much better! Last night in Karate,  it felt fine. A litle twinge here and ther  but by the end of the night I was starting to feel it.
Spent the week working outon the treadmill. Nice change just to walk and relieve some strain on the body. Averaged about 3 miles each day for about [...]
